In recognition of the relationship between the two companies, Frontier asked Pratt & Whitney employees to name the first three aircraft. The first aircraft was named "Frederick the Bald Eagle" in honor of company founder Frederick B. Rentschler, recognizing the engine maker's nearly 100-year history. The aircraft, emblazoned with Pratt & Whitney's iconic bald eagle on its tail, is the first of 144 A320neo family aircraft that Frontier has selected the GTF engine for — 134 purchased and 10 leased.
